Potential field navigation

I have newbie in Gazebo. I'm studying robotics and one of my practice is to implement in Gazebo potential field navigation method to make a robot navigate from one corner to the opposite corner avoiding obstacles.

But I have no idea about how to do it.

Is there any tutorial or an article that teach me how to do it?
