Gazebo application does not stay open when I try DRC walking tutorial with ATLAS robot

I'm trying to run the DRC walking tutorial with ALTAS robot. (see http://gazebosim.org/wiki/Tutorials/drcsim/2.6/atlassiminterface) I have followed all the steps in the tutorial. When I execute the command: roslaunch atlasutils atlassandiahands.launch, the Gazebo application opens and quickly closes. So, I am not able to execute the command: rosrun atlassiminterfacetutorial walk.py to actually make the robot walk.

Do you know what I am doing incorrectly?

something may have crashed. Are there any error messages printed in the terminal?
