Hi I use gazebo 2.2 with ROS package tum_simulator. This is a package with simulator of quadrotor AR Parrot Drone. Unfortunately I noticed that image from bottom camera don't display ground but sky. (strange)

http://snag.gy/L5Riw.jpg left image is a view from bottom camera :( and right image view from front camera. Black shape near window of the house is quadrotors' model.

I notice that when I run this node I got some errors, I hope that this is a reason of problems with camera.

According to this page I should update sdformat. Now I'am using gazebo 2.2 and I have to stay with this version. How to update this sdformat and don't brake Gazebo? Does this solution works for me too?

I don't remember how I have installed Gazebo, but when I use locate Gazebo, I got:

/opt/ros/indigo/include/gazebo_plugins/GazeboRosCameraConfig.h

According to this document: http://www.stephenwilliams.info/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/aiaa-2010a.pdf which is from 2011, author says that it is possible to download dem file and convert it to heightmap and it will work with Gazebo. I found this tutorials: http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/517230-tutorial-converting-a-dem-to-a-heightmap/ http://johnflower.org/tutorial/getting-height-maps-qgis what do you think about it? it will work?

I am using ROS so, I have to stay with Gazebo 2.2. Thanks for this wiki tutorial but I found sth simmilar before http://vimeo.com/58409707 : ) Maybe it should be posted also on this wiki, it is better than only text version.

I am a little bit confused because here http://answers.gazebosim.org/question/7383/dem-tutorial-errors-unkown-image-format/

I found info that it will work with version 2.2.2. So what is the answer?

Hi,

could you tell me what is the best and the easiest way to build 3D mouintain world in Gazebo? I would like to simulate quadrocopter and I am going to import 3D terrain or 3D model.

I checked this topic but it only works with Gazebo 3.0 and unfortunately I use Gazebo 2.2, correct me if I am wrong, it will not work with Gazebo 2.2 or on this site is mistake?

I have also found old topics and read that someone use heightmap terrain.

Is there any tutorial how to do it?

Hi, this solution only works with Gazebo 3? Is there any solution or trick to add terrain map or to get similar effect in Gazebo 2.2?

Unfortunately I don't have any sdf file and model.config file. Should I create them? I spend some time and I found in google that few years ago people ad files like here: http://answers.ros.org/question/43809/unable-to-include-model-files-for-objects-in-world-file-for-simulation-in-ubuntu-1204-fuerte/ or like here: http://answers.ros.org/question/42529/how-to-import-collada-dae-files-into-gazebo-rosfuerte/ so what is the best solution? creation .sdf files or using URDF?

I know, I had checked it before but I have only *.models and *.dae files. I would like to add tag / mark to gazebo. I know that it was possible and it was working when ROS fuerte was released. Like here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wG1OHN7ik3w Some time ago, there was different standard to add models to world?

Hi,

could you tell me:

  • is there any option to add model of object from non default localisation? like: add different path to this GUI? http://snag.gy/Du37O.jpg

  • I am using ROS and Gazebo and I am a little bit confused, what is the extension of models (objects which can be added to the world)?
    .sdf, .world, .model, .dae?

2014-11-17 16:15:01 -0500 commented answer How to add model of object from non default localisation?

Thank you for your answer. I add path to the .bashrc file, and this path appear in insert tag, but I can't choose anything. This folder which is linked to this variable consist *.model files. Do you have any idea what is wrong? http://snag.gy/HNwe5.jpg please check it: http://pastebin.com/mebhNW1R I am not sure but is this normal that when I call echo it gives ' : ' sign before path?
