installation on windows - v6 or v7

Hi,

I just started working on my thesis which is collaborative control of mobile robots which can communicate wiht each other and have sensors like encoders, IMU, GPS, sonars and such.

I think Gazebo will suit my needs, but am new to this and wanted to ask where to start, which version to install, as 7 was just released last week. Install instructions are for v6, am on windows and cannot afford atm to move to Linux, may do that some time in a couple of months but cannot do it now.

THANKS.

P.S. I also asked the same thing in the Google Groups, so which group/site to use.?? Groups or answers.??? - sorry, this is 2 questions in one.

Here is the answer sent on the google groups mailing list:

Windows support is experimental at this point. You would have better luck using a virtual machine on windows, instead of directly installing gazebo.

Gazebo 6 and 7 are fully supported, so you can choose either one. Version 7 will have newer features and bug fixes, but it hasn't been under active use as long as version 6.
