Possible to alter Propagation model of Wirelesstransmitter.cc/hh?

I'm working in a project which demands to investigate the propagation of Wifi-models. I found the sensor Wirelesstransmitter/transceiver/receiver in Gazebo which already implements most of the functions I was searching. However I'm fairly new to Gazebo and have no clue how to alter the propagation model of this sensors.

Is it possible to write a plugin which expands the propagation model?
