Which benchmarks are most relavant for Gazebo performance?

There are very little details on Gazebo system requirements or advice on recommended hardware configuration for best performance given the nature of computations used in Gazebo. Obviously, given the nature of computations, the same components (e.g. CPU) can perform differently on different benchmarks.

One can seemingly use a better computer, but as Gezebo will be slower (e.g. http://answers.gazebosim.org/question...).

What benchmarks are most relevant for Gazebo when deciding which components to select?
