How to make a fixed joint into a revolute joint?

Hello everyone,

I wanted to convert a joint in a robotic hand into a revolute joint that I can control with a publisher. However, on modifying the code, the joint has an axis in the GUI but does not move. The simulation also becomes extremely slow. The specific robot hand I am using is the Barrett hand BH-282.
