Hello there,

does someone know whether there's a way to get Gazebo 1.9 working whith ROS fuerte? I just transferred my whole project into ROS fuerte, but there were some problems with the old version of Gazebo. So I changed to a newer version where my problems should be solved (according to the internet), now I'm just missing the combination of ROS and Gazebo but all i can find are tutorials for ROS groovy and higher. Are there some plugin packages or workarounds to make this work? Or do i have to transfer all my code to another ROS version again?

best wishes,

Sqred

Since ROS released Hydro, Fuerte is consider deprecated and not supported anymore. So I would recommend move it to a supported distro (currently Groovy, Hydro or "still to release" Indigo).

ROS fuerte seems to contain ros-fuerte-simulator-gazebo package which ship an old version of gazebo. I don't think that would be an easy job make it to work with gazebo-1.9, and probably you have to download the code and start integrating the new gazebo version into there so ROS wrappers can be compiled against this new version.

I would recommend: update if possible or keep using the gazebo version provided by fuerte (in this last case you don't need the OSRF repo).

I'm in a similar situation, working with fuerte after a migration from electric and having an ancient gazebo 1.0.2 installed, that is not working properly after this. I don't know whether to update ROS and Gazebo or not (I don't want to lose my work)

Migrations are hard, but they will bring some nice features. Keep the things in Fuerte is going to be hard in all ways so give a look at the new Indigo or the current Hydro ROS versions.
