Error message at start up after installation

I am new to Gazebo and got the following message after trying to run the Gazebo Server after installation, Mesa 8.0.4 implementation error: unexpected format GLDEPTHCOMPONENT16 in mesachoosetexformat() which caused the program to crash. What does it mean how do I fix it?

Maybe the graphics card is not properly installed, can you check if glxgears works? You need to install mesa-utils for that. What kind of GPU do you have, is it running via optimus?

I have similar problem. I have installed Gazebo1.9, Mesa8.0.2 from lab's Ubuntu repository. Probably this repository is 3 months old. Glxgears works fine. There is no external graphics card on machine.
