I have Ubuntu 12.04 LTS and ROS Hydro. I installed Gazebo 1.9 and executed initial mobile robot tutorials with SDF. But my system gets very slow while running Gazebo. I have 1GB RAM with Intel Pentium (R) Dual CPU E2200@ 2.20 GHz*2. My motherboard is: ASUS P5KPL-AM EPU. Is there a minimum requirement for CPU and RAM while running Gazebo? What is that? Should I increase my RAM?

Hi, in Gazebo also real time rendering is performed, to see what causes the problem you should also write what is you graphic card. Moreover, IMHO 1 GB of RAM is not enough. But before suggesting you to buy some more, I'd wait for another opinion :)

I agree with @Andrea that the 3D graphics performance is most important. Nevertheless, your system does seem somewhat under-powered. Exact numbers would depend on the size and complexity of your robot and world models.

1 GB of ram is fairly low. For example, I typically use 8 to 16 GB. What models are you using?

Responding to the title (H/W requirement), there's a [list of tested graphic cards on ros.org](http://answers.ros.org/question/11191/system-requirements-for-rviz-and-gazebo/); note that they were made a few years ago. I don't seem to find if there's an updated list on gazebosim.org.
