Gazebo 9 symbol lookup error

Hi. I'm trying to install Ros Kinetic and Gazebo v9 on Ubuntu 16.04. I have installed ros successfully. I tried to install Gazebo 9 using the instructions here - However, when I run Gazebo in the terminal, I get the following error:

gazebo: symbol lookup error: /usr/local/lib/ undefined symbol: _ZN2cv13AlgorithmInfoC1ERKSsPFPNS_9AlgorithmEvE

I have searched quite a bit online but have not found any ways to fix this. Can anyone please help?
