Visually simulate a cable attached to mobile robot

Hello everyone,

I I'm using gazebo fortress and I want to simulate a cable linked to my moving robot. I don't need it to be physically correct, a thin cylinder from the base to the robot will be enough. But I don't see any plugin that could do that. If there is no way to do that, I thought about regularly recreating a new cylinder (and removing the last one) between my robot and the base. But I didn't find any way to do that easily without using ROS. Am I missing an existing plugin/function or do I have to try to do it by myself ?
