2015-05-20 09:43:57 -0600 commented question How to Get Velocity of a joint using API ?

Hi Tytteboevsen ! Yes I am using C++ to write the api , then making it executable file using cmake and make commands and I am trying to link it to gazebo directly using gazebo::setupClient(argc, _argv). I read about the GetVelocity function from the following link : http://osrf-distributions.s3.amazonaws.com/gazebo/api/dev/classgazebo11physics1_1Joint.html . Thank you .

2015-05-20 09:37:42 -0600 asked a question How to get Base pointer from gazebo ?

I am trying to use gazebo::physics::Joint::GetVelocity() function. But for constructor of gazebo::physics::Joint(), we need inputs as ; (BasePtr _parent). Can you tell me how can I get these parameters ? Thank you .

You can refer to this link for this function : http://osrf-distributions.s3.amazonaw...11physics11Joint.html

I asked something similar in this question http://answers.gazebosim.org/question... but did not get any reply. You can refer to here also.

Thank you .

2015-05-19 10:07:03 -0600 asked a question How to Get Velocity of a joint using API ?

I want to get the velocity of a particular joint using API. I do not want to use ROS or plugin. Can anyone please help me / I am trying to use gazebo::physics:Joint:GetVelocity() funcion but for that we need Base Pointer for the constructor of gazebo::physics::Joint. Can anyone please tell me what base pointer is and how to get it ?

Thank you JS for the information. You said that we need joint pointer but when I revisited the link I have mentioned in my question, I found out that in this case, we would rather need Base Pointer in constructor of gazebo::physics::Joint. Can you tell me what base pointer is and how to get it ?

2015-05-13 06:58:05 -0600 asked a question How getvelocity function works ?

I wanted to get the velocity of a joint of my model using GetVelocity() function but can anyone tell me how to use this function. I saw this link http://osrf-distributions.s3.amazonaws.com/gazebo/api/dev/classgazebo11physics11Joint.html Here I found the description but I am still not able to figure out how it works because they have mentioned that in parameters you have to give int value but how can I tell gazebo which joint's velocity do I need to know in this way? Shouldn't I give the whole name of the joint ?

Thank you for your answer but I want to do this without plugin .

2015-05-13 04:28:43 -0600 asked a question How to get and set velocity of a joint in Gazebo ?

Hi everyone !

1) I have made a small robot model with 4 wheels. I simulate it in Gazebo and and provide some force to the wheel joints so that the robot starts moving. Now, I want to know the speed of the model or any particular joint by writing an API code. Can anyone please tell me how to do that ?? Also , I don't want to use ROS and Plugin methods. I just want to write a C or C++ code for that.

2) After receiving the speed, I now want to set the speed of that joint according to me by the same method as mentioned above i.e. by writing C or C++ API code, without using ROS and Plugin methods.

I would be really grateful to you if you help me out with this .
